Scholarship Bottom Lines (July 2021)

As we reviewed the students’ scholarships, we explained in more detail what benchmarks they had to meet in order to renew the scholarship in coming years. Our current students are recipients of the LIFE scholarship, as well as the Meeting Street Scholarship (which depends on eligibility for LIFE).

The most important details to clarify around these scholarships are that the LIFE 3.0 GPA minimum includes courses taken at all higher education institutions, not just the school the students are currently attending. This means that any dual enrollment and community college courses that students have previously taken apply toward this cumulative GPA. Similarly, the credit minimums required for entry into students’ sophomore, junior, and senior years also refer to overall credit standing (including transfer credits from previous institutions and studies).

Understanding these details was critical for students to understand what was really required of them in their first semester. If they needed to drop a class to maintain their 3.0 GPA, they could afford to do that — so long as they had come in with some transfer credits, or were prepared to take the class over the summer instead.
